[Video] How to Get More Organized Without Throwing Anything Out
In today’s video I outline my favorite strategy for making more space in your home and schedule without having to get rid of anything.
This may come as a shock to some of you but not all professional organizers are out to make you throw everything out! I tackle this myth head on and hope you will take a peek below and let me know your thoughts.
What are YOU going to put on rotation? I’d love to know! Please post your comments below.

A few thoughts about ‘rotation.’ It is an easy concept to wrap your head around when dealing with seasonal items like wardrobe and holiday decorations, the same concept applied to “other stuff” seems to be the gist of your remarks. I developed a rotation for my paper/mail that goes like this – action bin to file bin to digital. I keep hard copies for about three months (just in case) and then render everything to a digital format after about three months. A rainy Saturday evening is a perfect time to make the transition from hard copy files to digital files. I use the Neat Desk scanner and software. It interfaces well with other applications and after an initial learning curve, becomes easy to use. The hard part is setting up a system that belongs to you and lends it’s self to future document retrieval. There is no sense scanning a document that you will never find again.
This is excellent Daniel! I love your version of rotation and how you are applying it to your paper/information system. And you make a great point – it’s a good system only when you can find what you are looking for!
Julie, You did it again! I don’t how you do this but every time I’m about to give a workshop you pick something brand new and share it with me that I can use and also share with my workshop participants. So, I’m think what I’m going to rotate are some winter close that I want to see if by next year I still like and want to add them back into the rotation or let go of. Also, think I will look in my kitchen and linen closet for items too. Thanks, Julie!
Thanks Judith! I am so glad you are able to pass along this tip AND use it yourself!
